Kiwanis New Zealand South Pacific District has been granted vice regal
patronage by Her Excellency The Right Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy GNZM,
QSO, Governor-General of New Zealand.
The announcement was made in Wellington recently at a meeting of Wellington and Lower Hutt Kiwanis clubs, which was also attended by a group of senior Kiwanians from around the country. American citizen and Kiwanis International President Jane Erickson, was informed electronically.
Vice regal patronage is a significant public relations development for
Kiwanis, a worldwide organisation that focuses on improving the lives of children. In making the announcement Megan Allan said “Kiwanis is honoured to have been granted vice regal patronage. which endorses the work Kiwanis does for our children.”
Kiwanis volunteers do projects to support children in their local communities and also support worldwide projects run by the International arm of the organisation. The most recent worldwide project, in partnership with UNICEF, has been a five year initiative to eliminate neo-natal tetanus in third world countries. The NZSP District region has a Foundation Trust which makes annual donations to various organisations to support education and children within the South Pacific region.
