KIWANIS is proud to announce a unique partnership recently formed with STARJAM, an award wining non-profit New Zealand organisation
Starjam works by empowering young New Zealanders with disabilities to achieve their full potential through music and performance workshops.
Both organisations are excited about this partnership, which will strengthen our ability to reach out to a wider community and make a real difference where it matters.
Starjam currently operates programmes in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch.
These programmes are designed to connect young people with disabilities with their passions, peers and the wider community. Weekly workshops in drumming, singing, dancing and guitar, lead to opportunities for Jammers (as they are known within the organisation) to perform at public and private events, as well as StarJam’s regular community discos. Through these workshops young starjammers build self belief and self confidence.
The focus is what young people can achieve – not what they can’t.
Starjam is unique – there are no other programmes of this kind available in New Zealand for young people with disabilities.
